The Barbra Streisand Music Guide: Streisand Concert Tour 2006

The BSMG is excited to wrap our report on Barbra Streisand's Fall 2006 North American concert tour, which commenced on October 4th in Philadelphia, pledged to direct millions of dollars to organizations concerned with the environment, education, and women's health. Barbra performed 20 magnificent concerts in major U.S. and Canadian cities with special guest Il Divo during October and November, selling out and setting new records in many indoor arena venues. Barbra selected former president Bill Clinton's Climate Control Initiative to receive $1 million generated from concert ticket sales as the first recipient to benefit from the $11 million she has pledged to distribute to agencies addressing such urgencies as environmental preservation, voter education, the protection of civil liberties and civil rights, women's issues, and nuclear disarmament.

The Florida concerts were filmed for a future TV special and DVD release in 2008. Additional filming was done during Barbra's final tour stop, L.A.'s Staples Center, where she informed the audience that at least six shows would be forthcoming in Europe, with other countries, such as China and Russia, also possible.
