-
Recorded on April 5, 1964 at Manhattan Center in NYC and rush-released by Capitol about a week later. Album passed on by Columbia for Sondheim's Anyone Can Whistle.
- Monaural LP (Capitol VAS 2059) contains alternate take of track 4.
- The show opened at Broadway's Winter Garden on March 26, 1964. Barbra's final Broadway performance: December 26, 1965.
- Barbra remembers in Just For The Record: "When it did end...I was overwhelmed by the intensity of my emotions; I broke down on stage, and was completely unprepared for the cast and audience singing 'Auld Lang Syne' back to me. That last performance was the only time I ever sang 'My Man' at the Winter Garden." Both songs are included on the JFTR boxed set.
- Grammy Award: Score from Original Cast Album
- Digitally restored/remastered CD released.
- In January 2004 The National Academy of Recording Arts and Sciences inducted
the album into the Grammy Hall of Fame designated as a Grammy Classic Album.
It joins Barbra's single of "People" in the Hall of Fame,
"People" having been inducted five years earlier as a Classic
Single. Recordings are not eligible for Hall Of Fame acknowledgement until 25
years after original release.
