Footnotes
- Approximately 50 tracks previously unreleased, including studio and
live concert material.
- Contains 92-page illustrated booklet.
- Track 1 recorded with "Zing! Went The Strings Of My Heart" (not yet released) at NYC's Nola Studios, December 29, 1955, when Barbra was only 13. A few weeks later, newly-signed RCA recording artist Elvis Presley rehearsed
in the same studios for his first network TV appearance.
- In 2003 the large format box was reissued through Columbia with
the package open at the top, revealing the booklet attached to the inside
spine. The list price is the lowest to date -
$49.98. The four CDs are identical to the 1991 original box set in design and content.
Visit the SonyMusicStore
and listen to audio clips (if working) of every track! In late June the
set was sale-priced at Tower.com for $41.99.
In
1998 the set was released in a smaller, double jewelbox package. The packaging's art work is based on the original pink box cover design. The list price is also smaller - $59.98. Columbia has done an admirable job, redesigning the booklet and photo captions card, now two booklets totaling 56 pages, and packaging, as it had done for Tony Bennett, Bob Dylan, and Bruce Springsteen boxed sets. While Barbra's text has been abridged, the awards pages omitted, and many photos removed or reduced, several photos are larger, improved, and even brand-new! The four CDs are identical to the original boxed set version in design and content.
- Companion video retrospective, including many of these songs and
additional rarely seen performances, is still in the works.
