Streisand's 5th live concert album, recorded December 31, 1999 - January 1, 2000, MGM Grand Garden Arena, Las Vegas. The corresponding TV special world premiered on FOX February 14, 2001. Columbia Music Video/Sony Music released the Timeless - Live In Concert DVD & VHS on February 20, 2001, containing 38 additional minutes, including several songs not included in the FOX telecast. However, the CD marks the only appearance of "Simple Pleasures."
CD package includes 24-page full color booklet.
Collectors may consider purchasing the set from U.S. Barnes & Noble stores (not available via their online store), which initially offered an exclusive value-added version of this double-CD with a special catalog number (Columbia #C2K 61635). Sealed with the standard package is a limited edition promo only bonus disc (Columbia #CSK 16130) containing Barbra's otherwise unreleased "Come Rain Or Come Shine," recorded live at Australia's Sydney Football Stadium, March 10, 2000. For those who may inquire regarding the exclusion of "The Music That Makes Me Dance," please note this song was only a last-minute addition to Barbra's Millennium Eve presentation of Timeless and was not performed the following evening.
Most international releases of Timeless - Live In Concert occurred the same week in September. Dutch fans saw it in stores first on 9/15. Australia's release date was October 16. In Japan the set was released in a clamshell box with English transcript/lyrics and Japanese translation on November 29.
TV advertisements for the album, including mail ordering info, began running on various U.S. cable TV channels, including The Weather Channel, a few days prior to release. Regional print ads appeared too.
Columbia issued 8-song radio/retail promo-only disc called Selections From Timeless - Live In Concert (#CSK 16154).
In England Columbia issued 6-song promo CD called Studio Selections From Timeless - Live In Concert (#XPCD 1308).
