Barbra Streisand has been appearing and performing on television longer than she has been making records. Beginning with her 1961 Jack Paar
Tonight Show TV debut, Barbra frequently guested on national and local talk and variety shows, singing many songs from her early '60s nightclub repertoire.
In 1964 once she signed with CBS for a series of TV specials, Barbra's TV appearances were mainly limited to her own programs, five of which aired between 1965 and 1973. Gradually, her TV specials and guest performances became more rare, each one a major event and ratings success.
This page provides a comprehensive, annotated listing of Barbra Streisand's televised
musical performances, most of which aired first or only in the U.S. The original air dates and song titles are provided, where known.
If you have additional information with supporting sources, please contact me. Non-musical appearances are
not listed here but may be referenced in
The Barbra Streisand FAQ. Newscasts which featured incomplete performance clips and other programs, which subsequently repeated or aired clips of the previously televised performances below and movies without fresh performance footage, are not listed. For Barbra's
network specials, follow the links to a complete program guide and special
graphics. Unless specifically mentioned, most of the following performances, while recorded, remain unavailable on home video/DVD or
CD. However, beginning with the DVD box set Barbra Streisand: The
Television Specials in 2005, more material has been released on DVD. - MJI
