Footnotes
- Recorded during sessions in March '68, Feb. '69, and Spring '69.
- Barbra dedicated the album to "the young people who push against
indifference, shout down mediocrity, demand a better future, and who write and
sing the songs of today."
- For the Richard Avedon cover photo, a variation of which appeared
in Vogue (March 1968), Barbra wore curls and said, "I secretly
always wanted to have curls, but I didn't want to return to the
Victorian era. I wanted the look in a modern way."
- Tracks 3, 8 and 11 were originally
recorded by The Beatles, the latter two songs sung by Ringo Starr.
- In 1988 on Dutch TV, Barbra recalled that in 1987, while riding in a car,
she found a particular song on the radio "so pretty," remarking
"God, that's good." She asked her secretary to phone the station and
discover the female singer's name. Answer: Barbra Streisand. The song was
"Alfie." "I couldn't recognize my own voice...I absolutely
forgot that I recorded the song." Barbra recounts this story in her Timeless
concert.
- Digitally restored/remastered CD released.
